Is participating in social media campaigns enough to influence events around the world, or is it simply an act of complacency masked under a false and morally comfortable flag of standing up to the wrongs of this time? Why I am not doing anything about events and issues that I feel deeply about? Am I simply afraid, or am I a coward? These, and many other questions form the basis for this performance and installation.
This is not a year 1997, when Pipilotti Rist was joyfully smashing windows of randomly parked cars under an accepting eye of a onlooking policeman, manifesting feminine power and subversive lust for life. The year 2020 has been assigned by media a rather gruesome sounding title Year from hell. We are all symbolically and figuratively assigned to a life in a grid of 2 x 2 meters, endless rules that govern even simplest aspects of our lives, deprived of the freedom of movement, bombarded with information about violent events, conspiracies, government overthrows, military conflicts and criminal machinations.
With this work I want to illuminate the inner conflict I am experiencing, I want to reveal my own fears, I want to look into the nature of information that we are fed with, and to attempt to deconstruct the imposed grid, to demonstrate the suffocating effects of the information bombardment and, possibly, reveal a face of a hero and the price that heroes often pay for standing up\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":697,"template":"","event_tag":[85],"class_list":["post-696","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","event_tag-performance"],"yoast_head":"\n
